Zachariah is a black lionhead lop cross, and at 3.35kg he is a good size of rabbit.

Like most rabbits, he would rather not be picked up, and we would not ask you to. What he enjoys is company on his own terms. Sit down on the floor near him and he will come to you. He likes attention, treats get his full concentration, and once he has decided you are worth it he will settle in for nose and head rubs.

He lost his bonded companion not long ago and he has not been himself since. He is quieter, less interested in what is going on around him, and slower to get going in the morning. Rabbits grieve, and the answer for Zachariah is another rabbit. He has been in a good bond before and he knows how to be a companion.

There is one thing you should know before you consider him. Zachariah's gut slows down when he is stressed, and he has had episodes of GI stasis. It is manageable and it has been managed here, but it does mean he needs somebody who knows what they are looking at. An owner who notices a rabbit going off his food and acts the same day, who keeps his routine steady, and who has a rabbit-savvy vet, will not find him hard work. Somebody new to rabbits would find it a lot to take on.

He is looking for a calm household, a companion of his own species, and a person who is happy to sit on the floor.

We're holding an Adoption Event where you can meet Zachariah on Saturday 29th August. Book your slot to meet him now
